Who we are

lewishaydon.com is run by Dr Lewis Haydon, who trades through Apex Scientific Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company no. 14816914, registered office 32 Bilston Lane, Willenhall WV13 2QD, UK. Apex Scientific Ltd is the data controller for the information described here, under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect and why

When you book a virtual coffee or contact us: your name, email address, phone number, business name and what you tell us about your business. We use it to reply to you and arrange the call. Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in replying to enquiries.
When you join the owner’s letter: your name and email address, to send you the monthly letter. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link.
When you become a client: the information needed to deliver the coaching and to invoice you. Lawful basis: contract, and our legal obligations (for example, keeping accounting records).

Analytics and cookies

The site measures visits with Ahrefs Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or identify you. We also use Microsoft Clarity, with its cookies switched off, to see how pages are used (for example where people click and how far they scroll) so we can make the site easier to use. Clarity hides anything you type into forms. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Videos are click-to-play. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play; once you do, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies to that video.

Only the services we use to run the business, under contracts that protect your data: our email and course platform (Kajabi), our CRM and alerts (HighLevel), video calls (Zoom), website hosting (Cloudflare) and our accountants. Some of these process data outside the UK under approved safeguards. We never sell your information.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don’t become clients: up to two years. Client records: for as long as we work together and then six years, for accounting and legal reasons. Owner’s letter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, ask us to restrict or stop using it, and ask for a copy to take elsewhere. To do any of this, use the contact page or write to Apex Scientific Ltd, 32 Bilston Lane, Willenhall WV13 2QD, UK. We reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Podcast guests and research

If you’re a guest on the Mentor Business Podcast, what you say on the recording is published with your agreement. Answers you give for the SME Owners Say research are reported only as anonymised themes, with the number of owners stated, never in a way that identifies you or your business unless you agree in writing.
