Marketing coach

Marketing coach for business owners: marketing that makes money, not marketing you’ve always done.

Most businesses use marketing they believe to be true because they heard it from somebody else in their industry, or it’s what they’ve always done. It may have been right ten or fifteen years ago. Now it means spending a lot of money on the wrong things. I coach owners, and their marketing managers, from the number the business is after, backwards. From someone who ACTUALLY owns a lead generation business.

Who it’s for

You’re in the right place if…

You’re spending money on marketing you can’t connect to sales

Agencies, ads, a new website, a bit of everything. The invoices are real; the line from any of it to the sales number isn’t.

Your marketing is what you’ve always done, or what your industry does

It may have been right ten or fifteen years ago. Now everyone in your sector does it, so it’s no longer an advantage, and the tools have moved on.

Your marketing manager talks leads; you want to talk money

They report clicks, followers and enquiries. You want to know what it made, what it cost, and where to put the next pound.

You jump from thing to thing before anything has had time to work

A new platform, a new agency, a new idea every quarter. Nothing gets tested properly, so nothing compounds.

How I coach marketing

Start with the end in mind: did you win the quarter?

Who are we talking to?

It sounds like a cliché, but it’s the first step: the right marketing for the right person. Different platforms reach different people. I chose TikTok because the audience there resonates with my message. I found the audience first, then tested until I had the result.

What number says you won?

Focusing on a week’s results is too trivial. A quarter gives you enough of an average to know whether the marketing worked. So what’s the number that tells you that you won the quarter? For most owners it’s sales. You can have all the leads you want, but if you didn’t make any money, what’s the point?

Work backwards from it

For those sales to happen, what needed to be true week on week? How many leads, converting at what rate, from where, and what did each one cost? That’s what tells you where to invest to buy more leads, which becomes more revenue, and then more profit. And in 2026 there are ways of creating leads that don’t cost what they cost ten years ago.

Test, then stay on it

Understanding your audience, how they speak, what to split test and how far down to go takes time. People move from thing to thing too fast. A coach is there to stop you getting distracted from the thing that moves the needle. You can read how I split test and what the email behind it looks like.

For your marketing manager

Marketing coaching for your marketing manager: talk the owner’s language.

A marketing manager can walk into a leadership meeting and talk about how many leads they generated. But money talks. The owner wants to know how much was made in sales, how that came through to profit and, if there are shareholders, what’s going to be paid out in dividends. If the business measures its quarter in sales, your marketing has to be translated into that number. Otherwise you’re speaking a different language.

When a marketing manager starts reporting in money, the owner sees their value, and the manager can finally answer the question that matters: where should the next pound go? That’s what I coach them on, alongside the owner, at the owner and leadership team level.

Why me

A marketing coach with evidence, not theory.

Marketing is getting faster, like a J-curve. In 2015 one of my companies started to harness LinkedIn and we won a lot of business from it. A few years later every competitor was doing the same, so it was no longer a unique approach, and we had to find the next thing and adapt before they did. If we hadn’t, we’d have fallen behind. There’s always something new coming, and knowing what to harness and what to ignore is where a marketing coach earns their money.

Look at my TikTok right now and you’ll see 66,000+ followers. You can’t buy that. You have to have figured out how to make the algorithm work. What you don’t see is the email marketing and the nurturing behind it, which runs on the right tools and the right knowledge. If you’re still using the tools from ten years ago, because a book says so or because a coach learned it as theory, the results won’t come. I own a lead generation business, I grow sales and marketing in my own companies every week, and I’ve done it with the owners I’ve mentored.

Marketing is the one part of a business where you see a direct line from the behaviour to the result. That’s also why getting it wrong is expensive: you could be spending another £10,000, £20,000, even £100,000 on activity that isn’t the right activity. A good coach saves you ten years of trial and error. Add up what that costs.

If the bigger problem is the whole business running through you, start with how working with me goes. To see whether a price rise would do more for profit than more marketing, try the price increase calculator.

Lewis really helped me take my business to the next level, I was struggling to grow my business and my numbers were declining. With his help and guidance he has helped our business make an extra £5-10k a month in revenue to start with, and our social media following has helped us reach new people all over the world. If it wasn't for Lewis' help I think the business may have gone under, but since working with him the business has really flourished.

I worked with Lewis in a previous role and his coaching made a real difference, both professionally and personally. He helped us set clear business goals, challenge the way we operated and focus on what would genuinely move the business forward. His approach pushed us to think bigger, make better decisions and turn ideas into results rather than just talking about them. On a personal level, Lewis helped build my confidence, challenged my mindset and pushed me outside my comfort zone. He’s honest, straightforward and genuinely invested in seeing both the business and the people behind it succeed. I’d highly recommend working with him.

£200K to £1M+ in revenue, and one business to four. That’s where Vantage 365 has gone since I started working with Lewis. We’re now a group made up of Vantage 365 Group plus dedicated Consultancy, Training and Support businesses. Lewis has helped foster my entrepreneurial spirit and, just as importantly, helped me see the wood for the trees. He’s someone I can share ideas with, talk problems through with, and occasionally just vent to. And it’s not only me he’s supported; he’s worked with members of my team too, which has made a real difference across the business. If you’re an owner who knows there’s more in you and your business, I’d highly recommend him.

Questions

What does a marketing coach do?

A marketing coach works out, with you, which marketing is worth your money and which isn’t, and then keeps you on it long enough to know. I start with the number the business is after at the end of the quarter, work backwards to the leads, the conversion rate and the cost per lead that make it true, and then we test. An agency does the marketing for you; a coach makes sure the marketing is the right marketing.

Marketing coach or marketing agency?

Both, often. An agency runs the ads or the content; it rarely tells you whether you should be running them at all, because that’s its income. A coach has no stake in which channel you pick, only in whether it makes money. Owners usually come to me after a few years of paying agencies without being able to say what it made them.

What is the difference between a marketing mentor and a marketing coach?

A coach asks the questions; a mentor has done it and tells you what they’d do. I do both. I own a lead generation business, I grow sales and marketing in my own companies every week, and I’ve built an audience of 66,000+ on TikTok by testing, so when I tell you what to do next, it’s because I’ve done it, not read it.

Will you coach my marketing manager as well as me?

Yes. At £3,500 a month I work with you and your marketing and sales people together. The first thing I teach a marketing manager is to talk the owner’s language: not leads and impressions, but sales, profit and what it cost. Once they report in money, you can see their value and they can see where to invest.

How much does a marketing coach cost?

From £800 a month plus VAT for the owner, £3,500 a month with your team; every price is on the pricing page. For comparison, a marketing agency retainer for a business your size is usually £1,500 to £5,000 a month, and the question is whether anyone can show you what it made.

Do you do the marketing for me?

No. I’m a mentor: I show you and your team how, we test it on your figures, and I hold you to it. If you want someone to run your ads or write your content, that’s an agency or a freelancer, and I’ll help you choose one and judge them.

Do you only work with businesses in Birmingham?

No. I’m based in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter and work in person across the UK, and most monthly sessions run on Zoom for owners anywhere.
